A beta-carboline derivative was identified as a novel mu-opioid agonist. The sensitization of behavioral effects to this compound was examined. This study revealed that (1) a moderate dose (1.0 mg/kg, i.p.) of the beta-carboline compound caused hyperlocomotion in a circular open field; (2) higher doses (10.0-20.0 mg/kg, i.p.) enhanced both hyperlocomotion and stereotypy; and (3) the enhancing effects of the latter doses were antagonized by naltrexone (1.0 mg/kg, i.p.), indicating that behavioral sensitization is produced by this agent.Alamo Drafthouse is doubling down on their popularity by offering free popcorn on Thursday nights.
